my little brother, sister (in-law), and baby nephew are coming home from NY for easter for the first time in way-too-long. they set off for the big city to start their own adventure a few years ago and i couldn’t be more proud, but i miss them like cray. the last couple weeks, as their arrival get’s closer, i can’t help but get butterflies and tear up every time i think about hugging their faces and holding the babe.
(thank God for instagram and facetime, right?)
i’m looking forward to lots of hangout time while they’re here AND hosting EASTER.
brunchy foods (berries, pastries, yummy drinks) are a fave around here and right now, nothing sounds better to me than feeding and celebrating with those i love.
last week, in preparation for easter, my mom came over and we decided to try our hand at ombre frosting a carrot cake. we also wanted to share a cake topper printable (click here to download).
to make we added food coloring (mixing red and yellow to make coral) to 1/3 of the frosting and spread around the bottom half of the cake. then we mixed in another third of the frosting to tone down the color and spread around the middle-top of the cake. repeat again to finish the frosting. the color would have turned out more ombre if we had a little more white frosting so i suggest making a extra just in case!
oh, it’s also a good idea to do a crumb-coat a cake before frosting. (here’s a helpful tutorial if you haven’t done this before.)
what are you looking forward to the most this easter!?
we’d love to hear in the comments below.
